Diwali round the corner, the shopping season is on us. To lure customers, e-commerce sites are hosting sales this week. ET shows what is on offer and how to get the best price.
Flipkart Big Billion Day Sale
The second edition of the Big Billion Sale is expected to offer better deals and discounts offered last year. That is probably why Flipkart has decided to run the sale for 5 whole days—from 13 to 17 October.
A big change this time is that the sale will be exclusively on the Flipkart app. Expect deals across all categories with added offers and cashback schemes from various banks. We recommend you install the app, create or sign-in to your account and save your address for delivery.
Amazon Great Indian Festive Sale
Amazon India has also announced its pre-Diwali festival sale. It is happening on the same days as the Flipkart sale—13 to 17 October with the last two days (16 and 17) being app-only sale days. App users will get access to deals 15 minutes before the website shoppers, so we recommend you download the app for shopping too.
You can expect competing deals across categories with an additional up to 15% cashback available to HDFC card users on the site as well as app. If you want a sneak peak on the deals, you can register on the website and view deals 12 hours in advance.
Snapdeal is offering a one-day special Diwali offer deal on 12 October. On offer are deals on mobiles, tablets, laptops, appliances, TVs and cameras. 100 lucky customers who have preregistered on the site will be eligible to win free prizes after the sale is over.
PayTM Festive Offers
PayTM has also announced festival sales on the site. While the exact dates have not been announced, it is expected in the second week of October. In tune to their style, PayTM is expected to offer great deals with discounts as well as cashback offers on a large product portfolio.
We expect exciting deals in electronics, apparel, home and kitchen and sports. In a first, PayTM will allow non-PayTM wallet holders to avail benefits.
While purchasing online, it’s not easy to keep track of which website is offering the best price for a product. During festival sales, the prices fluctuate a lot, so to find the best possible deal it is necessary to use a comparison or deals offering browser extension.
Available mostly for Firefox and Chrome browsers, these extensions do the hard labour for you, searching through different sites for the best prices. Here are a few extensions you can try.
The plug-in sits on the left corner of the webpage with a small box that shows the various coupons available for the website. Click on the box to view the available offer coupons and use them.
Offering the most extensive details of the lot, this Chrome extension not only shows you offers and coupons, but also a graph of the price variation of a particular product. It also shows you other price drops in the ame category without leaving the page.
This one lets you quickly compare price of a product across multiple websites. You need to go to the e-commerce page of the product you are interested in and click on the rupee icon on the left to view prices.
Making it easy to find the lowest price, this extension shows a bar on top of the web-page with the cheapest available price as well as a drop down menu showing prices on other e-commerce websites and any available coupons.
One of our favourite websites when it comes to snagging the best deal. The website requires you to sign-up for a free account and add your bank details to your profile. Before shopping on any website, open CashKaro and check for additional cashback offer on an e-commerce website.
It usually has offers for all the major players with additional cashback offer over the coupon/discounts being offered by the e-commerce site itself. The cashback is credited back to your account automatically in a few days.
